Qlabs runs a short, hands-on AI course for tuition and enrichment centres in Singapore. Tutors learn to draft practice questions at the right level, first-pass marking comments and progress reports for parents with AI, and we set the tools up at your centre with your own worksheets, mark schemes and report formats, so they work the day after the course. The tutor checks everything before a student or parent sees it. The course is delivered with an SSG-approved training partner, so eligible employers can offset the fees with the SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit.
The problem it is built for
A tutor's week is more than the hours in front of students. There are worksheets to prepare at the right level, scripts to mark with useful comments, and progress updates for parents, usually done in the evening. Matthew Lee, who founded Qlabs, has run an education business in Singapore since 2009 and set up AI tools in his own centre to take a large share of that preparation and writing off his tutors. This course is what worked, packaged so other centres can do the same.
What the course covers
| Task | What tutors learn to do with AI | What stays with the tutor |
|---|---|---|
| Practice questions and worksheets | Draft questions at a set level and topic, from your own materials and style | Checking accuracy, difficulty and answers |
| Marking comments | Draft specific first-pass comments from the tutor's marking notes | The marks, the judgement and the final comment |
| Parent progress reports | Turn short notes into clear progress updates in your centre's format | What to say, difficult conversations, sign-off |
| Enquiries and notices | Draft replies to common parent enquiries and routine notices | Prices, schedules and commitments |
| Data protection | Remove or code student names before using a general AI tool | Deciding what may be shared at all |
Tutors practise on their own real work: your syllabus levels, your worksheet style and your report templates. It is not a lecture about AI.
Set up at your centre, not just taught
The difference from a classroom AI course is that we set the tools up with your materials during the engagement. Your team keeps the templates, prompts and a short guide, and runs it without us.
- A 15-minute call about your centre, subjects and levels, which work takes the most time, and whether you are likely to be eligible for the SFEC.
- Hands-on course with your tutors, on their own worksheets, marking and reports.
- Setup at your centre with your materials and formats.
- Handover of templates, prompts and a guide.
Built by someone who runs a centre
Qlabs comes from running an education business, not from a software company. Matthew Lee has run one in Singapore since 2009, is a WSQ-certified adult educator (ACLP) and a Claude Certified Architect (Professional), verified on Credly. Qlabs has also built software for education businesses: a live tutor marketplace, an AI curriculum platform with 18,000+ resources, and an operations platform for a Singapore tuition centre that replaced its scheduling software and about 15 spreadsheets.
Students' data, handled properly
Every setup is PDPA-first. Tutors learn to remove or code names and identifying details before using a general AI tool, and where a centre wants it, we set up processing on local hardware so data does not leave for a third party. The PDPC's advisory guidelines on personal data in AI systems are part of what we work from. See our free PDPA and AI checklist.
Funding: the SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit
The course is delivered with an SSG-approved training partner, so eligible employers can offset the fees with the SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit (SFEC). The original SFEC ends on 30 November 2026. From 1 December 2026, the Enhanced SFEC gives a fresh S$10,000 to employers that had at least three Singapore Citizen or PR employees every month in 2025, were not in default on Skills Development Levy and were not inactive on ACRA. Its funding rate has not been published yet. Our SFEC 2026 explainer has the details and official sources.

Frequently asked questions
Will AI write worksheets that are wrong?
It can, which is why the course teaches tutors to check everything. AI drafts practice questions and answers from your own materials and level; the tutor checks every question, every answer and every mark scheme before a student sees it.
Can we use the SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit?
The course is delivered with an SSG-approved training partner, so eligible employers can offset the fees with the SFEC, subject to SWDA's rules. From 1 December 2026 the Enhanced SFEC gives eligible employers with at least three Singapore Citizen or PR employees every month in 2025 a fresh S$10,000. See our SFEC 2026 explainer.
We only have a few full-time staff. Is it worth it?
Smaller centres are often where the writing load hurts most, because the owner is also a tutor. Eligibility for the SFEC depends on having at least three Singapore Citizen or PR employees on CPF every month in 2025; part-time tutors paid as contractors don't count towards that.
Does it cover enrichment centres, not just academic tuition?
Yes. Music, art, language, coding and sports academies have the same pattern of lesson materials, progress notes and parent communication. We set it up with your own formats.
What about students' and parents' personal data?
Every setup is PDPA-first: tutors learn to remove or code names before using a general AI tool, and we can set up processing on local hardware so data does not go to a third party.
Is this a software product we have to subscribe to?
No. It is a course plus setup. If you want an operations system built for your centre, that is a separate consultancy engagement, like the one we built for a Singapore tuition centre that replaced its scheduling software and about 15 spreadsheets.
Who teaches it?
Matthew Lee, a WSQ-certified adult educator (ACLP) who has run an education business in Singapore since 2009 and is a Claude Certified Architect (Professional), verified on Credly.
